Glarus Nord, Commission for Municipality

Drawing on more than ten years of experience as an administrative professional, I have an in-depth understanding of the workflows and needs of planning and building authorities. Since 2023, I have been taking on a broad range of tasks and leading diverse projects for the Building and Environment department of Glarus Nord in my role as Project Manager for Settlement Development and Spatial Planning.

The mandate’s objective is to manage new and ongoing spatial planning processes professionally and to provide effective support to the municipality in fulfilling its statutory responsibilities.

Client: Building and Environment, Glarus Nord

Period: Since 2023

Having worked for the municipality of Glarus Nord over several years, I am well acquainted with its processes, thematic priorities such as legislative goals, and the foundations for planning — enabling me to make a substantial contribution to project management.

I work closely with the Head of Building and Environment and the departments of spatial planning, civil engineering, and construction. Most projects involve communication with the municipal council and, where appropriate, with the public.

In collaboration with landowners, the municipality developed a framework plan to define how the newly adopted land-use plan for this street in the village centre should be implemented. My responsibilities included project management and procurement, as well as organising and facilitating two events with landowners. I also supported the urban design work of Atelier Corso.
Since 2023, I have been supporting the formal procedure for this special land-use plan (Sondernutzungsplan): including publications for public participation and consultation, as well as preparing documentation for the municipal assembly. "Sondernutzungsplanung" is a Swiss planning tool that regulates and specifies building and usage regulations for specific areas. It is issued by the municipal council and requires government approval.

Close to Ziegelbrücke station, Glarus Nord is set to grow further - with a mixed use area To identify public interests, a framework plan is being developed in 2025/26, followed by a definition of the way forward. The project navigates the tensions between ISOS designations, greenfield development, and an existing settlement in an exceptionally well-connected location.
For various projects, I have drafted urban development agreements, letters of Intent and planning contracts — as standalone documents, as part of special land-use plans, or for developments such as the Mollis airfield.
